National parks will be free to visit on these dates in 2023!
Are you ready to explore America's stunning National Parks? Good news! In 2023, all national parks will offer free admission on five days throughout the year.
While some national parks are free to enter all the time, around 100 of them typically charge an entrance fee.
However, on the following dates in 2023, you can visit any national park for free:
- January 16th: Martin Luther King Day
- April 22nd: First day of National Park Week
- August 4th: Anniversary of the Great American Outdoors Act
- September 23rd: National Public Lands Day
- November 11th: Veterans Day
Please note that while the entrance fees to the national parks will be waived on these days, other activities such as camping, boat launches, transportation, and special tours may still carry a fee.
It's worth noting that national parks are extremely popular, with the National Park Service recording over 297 million recreation visits in 2021 – a 60 million increase from the previous year.
The most visited parks in 2021 were the Blue Ridge Parkway, Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Golden Gate National Recreation Area, Gateway National Recreation Area, and Lake Mead National Recreation Area.
